TVBS scandal points to credibility problems in Taiwan’s media industryThe media is our access to the world. We believe everything that comes from the media is true as we assume that it is supposed to and will report the truth. As viewers, we have the right to know the truth yet the medium we put great trust in has disappointed us. Instead of reporting the truth, it has created untruths.
Taiwan’s media industry has always much to do with credibility problems. The TVBS incident is just one example that has been exposed. However, who knows how many of such incidents have happened and how many of which have been covered up? How can we determine the truth and the make-up?
What we see that is so called the ‘truth’ is ugly, but what we did not see from the film that was later on exposed was even uglier.
